Child Safety Standards

BIO.RE prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in every form. This applies to everyone who uses BIO.RE — the mobile app and bio.re on the web — and to every part of the service: profiles, bio pages and the links on them, direct messages, images and files, and usernames.

BIO.RE is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to hold an account. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to use the service, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Breaking these standards is not treated as an ordinary policy dispute. It carries a permanent ban, and where the conduct is criminal we treat it as a criminal matter.

The following are banned outright. There is no warning step and no second chance.

• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — sharing, requesting, linking to, or offering to sell or trade it, in any format.
• Sexualising a minor — any content that presents a person under 18 in a sexualised way, including drawings and edited or AI-generated imagery.
• Grooming — building a relationship with a minor, or with someone presenting as one, in order to sexually exploit them.
• Sextortion — threatening to publish intimate images of a minor to obtain money, further images, or anything else.
• Trafficking and solicitation — advertising, recruiting for, or arranging the sexual exploitation of a minor.
• Endangering a minor in any other way, including linking out to any of the above.

Holding an account while under 18 is prohibited too. That is an age-eligibility matter rather than an abuse matter, and it is covered further down.

Anyone can report a child-safety concern, whether or not they have a BIO.RE account. You do not need to know the people involved, and you do not need proof — tell us what you saw and we will look into it.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services or police first. Report it to us as well, but do not wait for us.

By email — best for anything urgent

Email hi@bio.re and put CHILD SAFETY in the subject line so we can route it quickly. Include the BIO.RE username or profile link, what you saw, and roughly when you saw it.

Please describe the material rather than attaching or forwarding it. Passing that content on can itself be a criminal offence, and we do not need it in order to investigate.

From the website, without signing in

Use our contact form and choose the topic Report abuse or harassment. No account is required, so this route is open to parents, guardians and anyone else who is not a BIO.RE user.

In a conversation, if you have an account

Open the direct-message thread, use the report option on the conversation, choose the reason that fits — including Underage user — and send it. This works the same way in the mobile app and on the web. You can block the account at the same time, which stops them from contacting you again.

Reports go into a queue that our trust and safety team reviews by hand. They are not auto-actioned and they are not closed by a bot.

• We look at the account, the content and the surrounding context.
• Where a report is substantiated we remove the content and act on the account — suspension, or a permanent ban for anything involving a minor.
• Where the conduct appears criminal, we escalate it as described below.
• We keep a record of the decision, so repeat behaviour is visible across separate reports.

We cap how many reports a single account can file per hour, so that the reporting system cannot itself be used to harass someone. If you reach that cap and your concern is urgent, email hi@bio.re instead.

If you believe we got a decision about your own account wrong, you can appeal it.

Child sexual abuse and exploitation is a criminal matter, not merely a breach of our rules.

Where we identify it, we remove the content, permanently ban the accounts involved, preserve the associated records, and report it to the relevant authorities in line with applicable law. We cooperate with valid legal requests from law enforcement; what we are able to produce, and how to request it, is set out on our law-enforcement page.

We also meet our obligations under the laws that apply to us, including the EU Digital Services Act: when we restrict content or an account, we issue a statement of reasons that explains what we did and how it can be challenged.

Reports are the most important signal we have, which is why every route above is open to everyone. Alongside them:

• Direct messages are screened before delivery. The text of every direct message is checked against our prohibited-content rules. A message that matches is held for human review instead of being delivered.
• Profile text is screened. Bio text is checked against the same rules and is rejected when it matches.
• Blocking. Any account holder can block another account, which cuts off contact in both directions.
• Account-level enforcement. We can suspend an account or ban it permanently.
• Age gating on outbound links. Links marked 18+ sit behind a confirmation step, and a mark applied by our team cannot be removed by the creator.

These measures are under continuous review and we add to them as the platform grows.

You must be 18 or older to use BIO.RE. Users confirm this when they register, and it is a condition of our Terms of Service.

If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete the account and its data. We do not hold it open pending an appeal, and we do not ask the account holder to prove their age first.

If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has an account, email hi@bio.re and we will remove it. You can also use any of the reporting routes above, or the Underage user reason in an in-app report.
